In the first games of sectional play, the Columbus North Bull Dogs blanked the Terre Haute South Defenders, 47-0, and the Columbus East Olympians slammed the Connersville Spartans, 54-13.

After huge, wet snowflakes fell on Columbus, temperatures rose to a not-so-seasonal 70 degrees.

Local businessman Albert Suhre announced his plan to build a new 65-room motor inn with indoor parking facilities, the Surrey Motor Inn, on the former Belvedere Hotel site at Third and Franklin streets.
