COLUMBUS

Robert L. Straub, 77, of Columbus and formerly of Palm Beach, Florida passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017, in Columbus.

Born April 18, 1940, in Columbus, he was the son of Leonard and Ethel (O’Neal) Straub.

On April 18, 1959 in Duluth, Minnesota, he married Marie J. Strand, and this union was blessed with two children.

Robert moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 1983.

He retired from Community Savings Bank of South Florida in 2005.

Robert was of the Baptist Faith and attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Columbus.

Survivors include his son Terry (Angela) Straub of Elizabethtown, his daughter, Shari (Norman) French of Gloucester, Virginia; his sister, Wilma-Straub Evans of Cape Coral, Florida; his first wife Marie (Claude) Aldrich of Lake Wales, Florida; grandchildren, Ashley (Matthew) Dwyer of Columbus, Brandon (Chelsea) Straub of Carbondale, Illinois, Matthew French, Norman French Jr., Jeremy French and Cherie Gothreau all of Gloucester, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Savannah Dwyer of Columbus, Tristan and Eden French of Gloucester, Virginia; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan C. Custer whom he married on June 7, 1987 and who passed September 1, 2003; and one grandson, Justin Robert Pavlick.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Palm Beach Florida.
