Pumps drawing contaminated water from 17 wells under the former Tri-State Plating hazardous waste site slowly reduced levels of chromium but the EPA reported five of the wells were still contaminated.

More than 2,000 Job Corps trainees and high school students were treated as a precaution against meningitis after a confirmed case of the highly contagious disease was reported.
