Larry E. Kitchin

COLUMBUS

Larry E. Kitchin, 74, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017. Larry was born in Shelbyville on February 21, 1943, the son of Edgar and Virginia (Burke) Kitchin.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy.

Larry married Sue Klene on April 13, 1996, and she survives.

Other survivors include his five daughters, Shari (William) Rabideau of Greensburg, Paige Kennedy of Columbus, Kendra Trenkamp of Greensburg, Brandi (Jack) Ray of Columbus and Bethany (Jay) Hubbard of Seymour; stepchildren, Todd (Brandi) Ruble and Dana (Greg) Phillips, all of Greensburg; sisters, Phyllis (Maurice) Neville, Beverly Hill and Diana Shawler; his first wife, Mary (Jones) Kitchin; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Donald and Richard Kitchin.

Larry worked at PrintPak in Greensburg and Bloomington, Lowe’s Pellet and Grain and drove a school bus for the North Decatur and Greensburg school districts for many years.

He was also the owner of Kitchin Standard Gas Station on the north end of Greensburg in the 1970’s.

He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus.

He was an avid gardener and loved woodworking.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, December 22 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus with the Rev. Doug Bauman officiating.
