Columbus faced the possibility of cutting police officers and firefighters under a House bill that could mean a $2.78 million loss for the local government budget.


In a quest to find more landfill space as quickly as possible, county officials appointed a new site search committee comprised of Michael Totten, Richard Wigh, Larry Kleinhenz and Jim Durham.


Emergency loans were made available for eligible farmers whose crops and pastures were damaged by drought conditions from June through mid-August, and inclement weather during the fall maturity and harvest season of 1967.
