Columbus City Plan Commission approved a request by Matt Ellegood, owner of the 4.5-acre industrial site formerly occupied by Golden Foundry on 10th Street, to allow construction of a low-income apartment building.

Single-family residence building permits for the first two months of 1993 dropped 33 percent, to 36, compared to the prior year when 54 permits were issued.

Unseasonably dry weather conditions sent the fire index rating soaring and was listed as the cause of more than a half dozen field and brush fires fanned by gusty winds in Bartholomew County.
