First Financial Bank announced it would build a new banking center in downtown Columbus on a vacant lot across from Bartholomew County Senior Center.

1993

Contractors United won a nearly $5 million contract to replace the deteriorating overpass that carried U.S. 31 into Columbus over State Road 11 and the Conrail tracks.

The Indiana Highway Commission passed resolutions to ban parking on both sides of Third Street from Hawcreek Boulevard to Lafayette Avenue, and both sides of Jackson Street from Third to Eighth streets.
