Two inmates broke out of Bartholomew County Jail by crawling through a plywood-covered hole and climbing down construction scaffolding.


First Lutheran Church celebrated its centennial year with the installation of a new 15-rank pipe organ, a gift for future generations, and by inviting former pastors to come back to deliver sermons.


Local merchants were warned to use caution in cashing payroll-type checks and to be on the lookout for stolen and fictitiously printed checks.
