Commiskey man arrested on charges of sexual misconduct with a minor

JEFFERSON COUNTY — Indiana State Police have arrested a Commiskey man on two charges of sexual misconduct with a minor after a four-month investigation.

The investigation began in December when Indiana State Police detectives were contacted about allegations of sexual misconduct, said Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, Indiana State Police spokesman.

An investigation by Detective Chris Howell determined that William M. Hardin, 43, Commiskey, had sexually abused a female juvenile when she was 14 and 15 years old, Wheeles said. The incidents took place in the latter part of 2017 near Commiskey in Jefferson County, Wheeles said.

The Jefferson County Circuit Court issued an arrest warrant this week for Hardin on one Level 4 felony charge of sexual misconduct with a minor, and one Level 5 felony charge of sexual misconduct with a minor, Wheeles said.

Hardin was arrested at noon Wednesday without incident, Wheeles said. He was being held in the Jefferson County Jail pending a court appearance.
