Ice Arena to host skating lessons, hockey leagues

Registration for Fall 2 Group Skating Lessons at Hamilton Community Center and Ice Arena is under way. Classes will run from Tuesday through Dec. 14, with no class the week of Nov. 18.

Cost is $75 for Snowplow Sam, $78 for Basic 1- Adult/Teen, $48 for Speed Skating,and $75 for Beginning and Advanced Hockey Basics. Those registered by the Friday before the start of class and receive $8 off.

Registration for the Fall House League Hockey also is under way.

Cost is $220 for a full season and $120 for a half-season. Full Season House League runs from Oct. 22 through Feb.  29. Fall Half Season runs Oct. 22 through Dec. 21. Players can practice from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays or Thursdays or 6:45 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and games will be between 8 and 11:45 a.m. Saturdays.

East Elementary Wrestling to hold parent meeting

The Columbus East Wrestling Club will hold an East Elementary Wrestling Parent Informational Meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Room 104 of East High School.

Practices will begin the week of Oct. 21 for pre-kindergarten through sixth-graders. Beginner Group practices will be 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and Advanced Group practices will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the East High School wrestling room.

Olympian swim teams to hold callout meeting

The Columbus East boys and girls swimming teams will hold a callout meeting for swimmers and their parents at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the school’s cafeteria.

East to honor 1979 football team at Madison game

Columbus East will honor its state champion 1979 football team at halftime of its regular-season finale against Madison on Friday.

The East athletics department is inviting all members of the 1979 team, coaches and administration to join current team members and coached to attend the game and be recognized at halftime. Tickets available for Slow Pitch Hall of Fame Banquet

The Inaugural Class of 2019 Columbus Indiana Slow Pitch Softball Hall of Fame Banquet will be Nov. 2 at The Eagles. Happy hour starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and then the ceremonies for the 14 inductees.

Ceraland to host Hoosier Trails 5K run/walk event

The Fifth Annual Hoosier Trails 5K Run/Walk will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 9 on the cross-country course at Ceraland.

Registration is $20 in advance and also will be available from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. the morning of the event. Proceeds will benefit Hoosier Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America.
