The new stadium and home of the Indianapolis Colts was officially named Lucas Oil Stadium after former Columbus resident Forest Lucas, co-owner of California-based Lucas Oil.


Local sports enthusiast, supporter and longtime statistician Bobby Wissman accepted the Service to Mankind Award from Sertoma Club.


Picketers marched at the three Cummins Engine Co. plants here as union and company negotiators met until noon with federal mediators in an attempt to settle the first strike in the diesel engine firm’s history.
