Maurice Eugene Duckett, 91, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia.

He was born in Johnson County, June 24, 1924, the son of Aaron Riley and Hallie M. Abbett Duckett. He married Margaret A. Williams August 28, 1960. She preceded him in death in 1991.

Maurice was a 1942 graduate of Trafalgar High School and graduated from Indiana University School of Business in 1948 and Butler School of Pharmacy in 1953. He was a sergeant in the Army Air Corps in World War II, serving in the Pacific.

He opened the Apothecary Pharmacy at Sandcrest Medical in December 1963 and operated it until May 1987. He was a member of Mount Carmel Christian Church in Trafalgar and the Masonic Lodge. His favorite pastimes were fishing, gardening, playing bluegrass on his fiddle and watching the stock channels.

He is survived by daughter, Sue Duckett Black of Marietta, Georgia; a granddaughter, Rylie Black; and sisters, Margaret Jane Noblitt of Columbus and Thelma June Stoneburner of San Diego, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Lennis, Cecil and Owen.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.
