Barthenia Margaret Myers, 91, formerly of Columbus, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Community South Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Shelbyville on March 25, 1925, the daughter of Ortis and Bernice Coers, and graduated from Shelbyville High School.

Barthenia moved to Columbus in 1951, where she was a homemaker and child care provider, as well as a Charter Member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she was very active in it’s activities.

She was also a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority and a member of the OK Home Demonstration Club.

Barthenia is survived by daughters, Paula (Joe) Payne, Susan (Michael) Shull and Sarah (Greg) Boyd; grandchildren, Megan (Kenny) Dilger, Andy (Jen) Payne, Chelsa (Jason) Skinner and Blair Tinkham; great‐grandchildren, Kenny, Emma and Grace Dilger, Hannah Payne, and Halyn and Bowen Skinner; one sister‐in‐law, Jane Myers; and one niece, Ann Myers.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A private service was conducted Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at the Jewell‐Rittman Family Funeral Home, 3855 25th St., Columbus, Indiana 47203. Burial was at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association through the funeral home.
