Margaret V. Cowan, 86, of Columbus, passed from this life at 9 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mrs. Cowan was born March 23, 1930, in Riley, Kentucky, to Willie and Bessie Holley Orberson. She married Thurman L. Cowan December 22, 1966.

A homemaker, Mrs. Cowan was a member of Apostolic Revival Tabernacle and she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and family. She loved to tend to her flower garden and enjoyed bird watching.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 50 years, Thurman; children, Randall (Shelia) Cowan of Taylorsville, Frances (David) Caldwell of Columbus, JoAnn (Terry) England of Columbus and Michael Cowan of Columbus; grandchildren, Marc Davis, Shauna (Jason) Baldwin, Amanda (David) Gregory, and Christina (Jason) Shafer; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sadie Followell Luckett, Lillie Followell and Virginia Henderson, all of Kentucky, Sylvia (Truman) Willard of Taylorsville and Betty Mattingly and Carolyn Howell, both of Kentucky; and brothers, Joe and Jerry Orberson of Kentucky.

Mrs. Cowan was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Cowan; eight brothers; and a sister.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Chauncey Romine officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from noon until service time Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
