Wanda Jean Burns, 80, of Columbus, died Sunday, February 5, 2017.
She was born on Jan. 12, 1937, in Sandborn, Indiana, to Samuel and Irene Elkins Ferguson. She was married to Raliegh Burns.
Wanda was a member of Shilo Baptist Church. She was retired from Cosco and later worked at Clifty Elementary School. She was an avid flower gardener and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Randy (Judy) Burns of Scipio; daughters, Kay (Charles) Scrogham of Columbus and Nancy (Larry) Chandler of Columbus; a sister, Betty Phegley of Switz City, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Linda Butler; a grandson, Shane Hibbs; her brothers, Alfred Ferguson, Robert Ferguson and William Ferguson; and sisters, Maxine Myers and Sue Tressler.
The funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Ancel Harden officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Garland Brook Cemetery.
