BCSC to purchase 9 buses

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. will add new school buses to its fleet to replace aging vehicles.

BCSC school board members Monday agreed to purchase nine buses, which cost $1.06 million, from Kerlin Bus Sales and Leasing based in Silver Lake. Superintendent Jim Roberts said the exact number of buses the district needs to replace changes annually.

Buses are replaced each year depending on the age of the fleet and individual buses, Roberts said.

The district purchased five buses in 2016, he said.

The board also approved changing its school board meeting time to 6:30 p.m. beginning with July meetings. The time change was made in order to better accommodate people’s schedules and still give ample time for technology support staff to set up for meetings, Roberts said.
