Darren Gene Fleming, 51, of Columbus, died Friday, February 17, 2017, at Franciscan Health.
In previous years, he worked at Columbus City Utilities in the Quality Control Lab.
He previously attended The Berean Bible Church in Columbus.
Darren was an avid fisherman and hunter. He liked to collect knives and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Darren loved spending time with his family. He was also an avid I.U. and Cincinnati Reds fan.
Born on March 29, 1965, in Columbus, Darren was the son of Paul Lewis and Anna Jean Duvall Fleming.
Survivors include brother, Doug (Amber) Fleming of Columbus; nieces, Tiffany Fleming of Columbus, Noel (Jordan) Stidham of Scipio and Holly Newsom of Columbus; great-nephew, Hunter Stidham of Scipio; uncle, Tony Timbrook of Hope; aunt, Shirley Duvall of O’Fallon, Illinois; and several cousins. Darren is also survived by his best friend, who was like a brother, Mark (Julie) Stratton of Columbus.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Jesse and Millie Duvall; aunt, Marilyn Timbrook; and uncle, Robert Duvall.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Norman Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Kennedy officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
