James Robert Gwin, 51, of California Street, died at 1:43 p.m. March 26, 2017, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
James was born Dec. 22, 1965, in Columbus, the son of Robert and Joyce Damron Gwin. He married Connie Sue Simpson June 17, 1989.
He had been employed at Advanced Auto (CARQUEST) for ten years and was a member and elder of Manasseh Ministries.
James was a fan of stock car and NASCAR racing. He loved his church and family. James always thought he was funny, but his family knew better and loved him anyway.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Shiloh Separate Baptist Church with Elder Jimmy Burden officiating. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Shiloh Separate Baptist Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, designated for ovarian cancer research, or the Alzheimer’s Association through the funeral home.
Survivors include his parents, Robert and Joyce Gwin of Columbus; wife, Connie; daughters, Carrie Nicole Gwin and Sarah Elizabeth (Trent) Miller, both of Columbus; and his sister, Mary (Randy) Bailey of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lloyd Damron and mother-in-law, Goldie Mae Simpson.
