Larry I. Taylor, 84, of Columbus, died at 11:22 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mr. Taylor served in the United States Army from 1951-1954. He was employed at what was then Stadler Packaging and retired from the now Mariah Packaging after 45 years of service. His hobbies were people, western movies and he loved spending time with his family.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Rev. Rick White officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Full military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzhiemer’s Association.

Larry was born Feb. 14, 1933, in Temple Hill, Kentucky, to the late Cecil and Ruby Johnson Taylor.

He married Anna Lois Ballard on June 15, 1955.

Survivors include his children, Mark Taylor, Linda (Dickie) White of Columbus; companion, Maxine Pearson, of Columbus; grandchildren, Shelly (Justin) Parker of Greenwood, Jacob Taylor, Maggie (Jeremy) Taylor, Crystal (Bryan) Green, all of Columbus, Carissa (Shawn) Garris of North Vernon, Samantha Matzar and Valerie (Eric) Schuyler, both of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Wesley J. Parker, Enrique Matzar, Anna Matzar, Michael D. Matzar, Penny Garris and Chasyti VanHoosier.

Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Taylor on Sept. 2, 2002; son, Jimmy Taylor; daughter, Beverly Badon; and grandson, Adam Taylor.
