Tax help available for county residents

Tax-preparation help is available through Saturday for Bartholomew County residents through the United Way 211 program of South Central Indiana.

The program offers assistance with state and federal tax returns at several locations in the area. Households with annual income below $54,000 are eligible for the free program.

Appointments are on a first-come, first-serve basis, with reservations encouraged. Individuals can choose from:

Mill Race Center, 900 Lindsey St., 9 a.m. to noon today

Doug Otto United Way Center, 1531 13th St., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The deadline to file federal and state income taxes is Tuesday.
