Crusaders win in three

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus Christian posted its third consecutive win, a 25-12, 25-18, 25-15 victory at Colonial Christian.

Madison Henderson recorded three kills, nine digs and four aces; and Michaela Schundelmier had two kills, seven digs and three aces for the Crusaders (8-1). Mayah Schundelmier tallied four kills, two digs and five aces; Lauren Hunnicutt notched four kills, five digs and one ace and Hannah Stair added two kills, 15 assists, two digs and two aces.

Golden Bears sweep Jets

SHELBYVILLE — Hauser came close in the first and third sets but came away with a 25-22, 25-18, 25-23 loss at Shelbyville.

Aunaka Wasil led the Jets (8-6) with 23 assists and three aces. Kylie Lock pounded eight kills, Hannah Johnson had two blocks and Melanie Taylor notched 15 digs.

Johnson also tallied six kills, and Shelby Fugate served two aces. Lock recorded eight digs, while Fugate added six, Mary Branum four and Andie Clark two.

Eagles continue streak

BLOOMFIELD — Brown County posted its seventh conseutive win, a 25-20, 25-17, 25-21 triumph at Eastern Greene.

The Eagles improved to 9-1.

Panthers prevail in four

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County bounced back from a third-set setback to post a 25-16, 25-12, 11-25, 25-20 win against Batesville.

Liz Ertel pounded nine kills, Karlee Madinger recorded 10 assists, Abi Vogel had 10 blocks, Hanah Bertram notched 18 digs and Marley Stearns served three aces to lead the Panthers (4-12). Vogel and Stearns each added five kills.

Spartans stop South Decatur

GREENSBURG — South Decatur came away with a 25-18, 25-17, 25-13 Mid-Hoosier Conference loss against Southwestern (Shelby).

Brook Somers, Lana Bell and Sam Goodfellow all pounded two kills for the Cougars (4-9, 1-2). Hannah Ballard recorded four assists, Goodfellow and Madison Owens each had a block, Karah Biddinger notched 18 digs and Somers and Owens each served two aces.

Braves topple Lancers

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh came close in the third set in a 25-6, 25-9, 25-22 loss to Indian Creek.

The Lancers fell to 0-13.

Trinity tops Stars

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran cruised to a 25-11, 25-16, 25-15 win against Bedford North Lawrence.

Hannah Sabotin pounded 20 kills, Bailey Reynolds recorded 37 assists, Kamzi Gross notched eight digs and Savannah Harweger served six aces to lead the Cougars (9-8). Sydney Jaynes added 11 kills, and Harweger and Kennedy Hoffman each had six digs.

Batesville blanks East

Batesville won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win at Columbus East.

Luke Miller fell to Lleyton Radcliffe 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Jackson Stevens lost to Sam Giesting 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Nathan Hatchett fell to Adam Scott 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Olympians (3-4).

East’s JT Kuhlman and Jalen Pleak lost to George Titter and Cooper Williams 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Pranav Kumar and Derek Heideman fell to Lane Oesterling and Brayden Worthington 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Jets rout Jackets

HOPE — Hauser won all four contested matches in straight sets in a 5-0 MHC win against Morristown.

Ethan Wallace beat Logan Theobold 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Sean Miller downed Bryce Kirstein 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for the Jets (4-1, 2-1), who won by forfeit at No. 3 singles.

Jacob Luken and Aaron Mee blanked Tony Connor and Jacob Wood 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Tyler Moore and Caleb Hoover topped Noah Klinger and Jerry Riley 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Eagles claim victory

ELLETTSVILLE — Brown County posted a 3-0 Western Indiana Conference win against Edgewood, with the match being stopped while both doubles matches were in their second sets.

Aaron McCann beat Cooper Thacker 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Chase Watson downed Lincoln Hammond 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Josh Miller topped Clint Shockney 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (4-5, 2-1).

Brown County’s Aiden Burt and Nolan Patterson were leading Chris McBride and Cole Burden 7-6 (5), 1-2 at No. 1 doubles. Noah Cochran and Spencer Burt led  Josiah Hinson Gavin Norris 6-3, 5-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Red Devils top Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County won only nine games in the five matches in a 5-0 loss to Jeffersonville.

Thomas Schuler fell to Matthew Monroe 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles for the Panthers (1-4). Kyle Tempest lost to Adam Crawford at No. 2 singles, and Greyson Jackson fell to Charley Williams at No. 3 singles, both by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

Weston Miller and Kent Biehle lost to Blake Winchell and Chate Amick 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Wyatt St. John and Joe Kelley fell to Joey Zelli and Jared Wells 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Jets avenge defeat

SHELBYVILLE — Hauser avenged a season-opening loss to Southwestern (Shelby) with a 1-0 victory.

Will Trotter scored the goal for the Jets (2-2-1, 1-1) off an assist from Sam Johnson. Kameron Lawson recorded 17 saves.

Columbus Christian falls

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus Christian fell behind 10-0 at halftime in a 13-0 loss at Colonial Christian.

The Crusaders (1-5) were outshot 20-9. Ethan Edwards recorded seven saves.

Stars stymie Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County couldn’t find the net in a 3-0 HHC loss to Bedford North Lawrence.

Dreagen Ison recorded 11 saves for the Panthers (1-8).

GIRLS SOCCER

Eagles notch first win

NASHVILLE — Brown County picked up its first win of the season, a 3-0 victory against Trinity Lutheran.

Izzy Rygiel scored two goals, and Kennedy Morgan had one for the Eagles (1-4-1). Skylar Fleischman and Hannah Hummel each posted one save.

The Cougars fell to 4-4.

Panthers edge Stars

BEDFORD — Naomi Beal scored two goals, including one on a penalty kick, to lead Jennings County to a 2-1 HHC win at Bedford North Lawrence.

The Panthers (6-2, 2-0) outshot the Stars 8-6. Kenna Maschino recorded three saves in the first 50 minutes, and Tori Lee added two saves over the final 30 minutes.

GIRLS GOLF

Lancers nip Cougars

GREENSBURG — Edinburgh’s Morgan Calhoun and South Decatur’s Annie Gant tied for medalist honors with 44s in the Lancers’ 230-233 win at Wyaloosing Creek.

Brooke Link carded a 58 for Edinburgh. Maddie McGaha added a 59, Emma Wade had a 69 and Bethany Burton and Callie Hancock each shot 70.

Katie Vanderbur carded a 58 for the Cougars. Kamrie Owens added a 65, Ashley Vanaman shot 66 and Joy Tryon had a 67.

Cubs slip past Panthers

MADISON — Jennings County had an off day in a 203-206 loss to Madison at Sunrise.

Peyton Whitehead led the Panthers with a 45. Ellie Hearne added a 51, Sydney Campbell had a 53, Destiny Joray and Annie Ertel each shot 57.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Cougar boys prevail

GREENSBURG — Trevor Newby won the boys race in 20 minutes, 34 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles) to lead South Decatur to a 27-29 win at North Decatur.

Nick Keppel finished second in 21:02 for the Cougars. Nolan Storm took seventh in 23:23, followed by Logan Platt in eighth (23:29) and Terry Redelman in ninth (23:38)

The Chargers won the girls meet 22-33. Sierra Kalli led South Decatur with a second-place finish in 24:01, while Ali Bolianger was fifth (26:13), Bailey Tomson seventh (26:51) Shelby Martin ninth (29:01) and Claire Hamilton 10th (29:33).
