Poling files for District 3 council seat

A filing for Columbus City Council District 3 means Republicans will have at least one contested race in the primary.

Republican Russ Poling, a Cummins Inc. quality manager, filed Monday seeking the District 3 seat, challenging Dave Bush, a Republican who was appointed to fill the unexpired term of former councilman Frank Jerome. Bush filed for candidacy on Jan. 24.

Poling served on active duty in the Air Force for 20 years. He is serving his second term on the Columbus City Plan Commission. He previously served on the Columbus Redevelopment Commission.

Feb. 8 is the last day for Republicans or Democrats to file a declaration of candidacy to run in the primary.
