Two authors to sign books Saturday at Viewpoint

Phil Stephens

Two authors will sign copies of their work from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Viewpoint Books, 548 Washington St. in downtown Columbus.

Indianapolis resident and retired newspaper journalist Bernie Gilmer will sign copies of the nonfiction release “It’s Up in the Air” that includes Brown County natives and Federal Aviation Administration air traffic controllers Mike Ayers and Steve Kritzer. Gilmer, who wrote the book with Ayers and Al Gray, takes a look at how decisions of three U.S. presidents — Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush and Barack Obama — impacted the families of Gray and Ayers.

Also, Brown County resident Phil Stephens will sign copies of his book, “The Altar Boy.” The book, based in the 1960s, is “the fictionalized tale of Carl Sanders, a funny, sensitive kid, who’s caught in the middle when his family is fractured by his parents’ faltering marriage and the appearance of a powerful priest,” according to promotional material. Stephens grew up as an altar boy in the Catholic church.
