A least three possible corporate sponsors spoke with city officials about financially supporting Ethnic Expo to keep the 25-year-old annual event alive after budget cuts made it impossible for the city to continue paying the $40,000 to $50,000 cost.

Former Bartholomew County Sheriff Jimmie McKinney was one of 24 U.S. Department of Justice international police monitors headed to Haiti to train Haitian police officers and help restore human rights.

A total of 8,813 students rode 3,869.3 round-trip miles a day on Bartholomew Consolidated school buses, and official enrollment in Bartholomew Consolidated Schools hit a record 13,584, an increase of 511 over the 1968-69 school year.
