The United Way of Bartholomew County is organizing a Volunteer Day of Service on Jan. 20 to mark the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Volunteer Action Center, a United Way agency, sometimes has mobilized more than 1,800 volunteers in one day for a range of community service, ranging from ramp building to landscaping and cleanup and more.
The last such outreach came on the Day of Service in September.
