COLUMBUS, Ind. — Two people were arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop in Columbus early Wednesday morning.
Shortly before 2 a.m., CPD officers stopped a vehicle for a minor violation near 10th Street and McClure Road, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
The officers spoke with the driver, Alison K.N. Overfelt, 25, of Columbus and noted that her passenger, Stephen B. Wyatt, 57, of Elizabethtown, was visibly nervous, Harris said.
A CPD canine was requested to respond to the scene and a short time later, alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle, Harris said.
While searching the vehicle, officers reportedly located methamphetamine, Suboxone pills, marijuana, multiple syringes, along drug paraphernalia including a pipe, scales, and corner cut baggies.
Both Overfelt and Wyatt were placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges:
- Stephen B. Wyatt: Possession of a legend drug injection device, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a legend drug, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia
- Alison Overfelt: Possession of methamphetamine, possession of a legend drug injection device, possession of drug paraphernalia
