Jacqueline Marvin, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 23, 2020. She passed away at Brown County Health & Living where she had been a resident for several months in 2020.
Jackie was born on December 23, 1933, the daughter of Charles W. & Addie Lee (Reid) Bryant.
She grew up in Atlanta, Georgia where she attended Colonial Hills Baptist Church and placed her faith in the Lord Jesus at age 9. As a teen, she rededicated her life to Christ at a Billy Graham Crusade. She loved her Lord and wanted to serve Him well. She graduated from Russell High School in 1951, worked for a year, and then attended Bob Jones University for a year before transferring to William Jennings Bryan University in Dayton, TN (now Bryan College). She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology with the intent of being involved in veterinary work.
After graduating from College in 1956, Jackie married Charles D. “Chuck” Marvin. They moved to Indiana where her husband desired to return as a native Hoosier, to teach and coach. She set aside her veterinary plans when they began to have children, and she loved being a wife and mother.
As the children grew in age, she reentered the work place serving with Children’s Inc. before taking the position of Bookstore Manager of Northside Jr. High School from 1974 until her retirement in 1993.
Upon retirement, they moved out into the country, which they dearly loved, enjoying especially her daughter’s horses and life on the farm which reminder her of her childhood when she loved hunting, fishing, and riding horses.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck, as well as her parents, her brothers, Charles W. Bryant Jr. & Dr. James W. Bryant, a niece, Beverly Bryant Brown, and a great niece, Lynn Brown.
She leaves behind four children, Mike Marvin of Kokomo, Dave (Debbie) Marvin of Columbus, Melinda (Dave) Dreibelbis of Vernon, and Lisa Marvin of Hope. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jennifer (Davey) Sapp of White Oak, Georgia, Lori (Ryan) Wasson of Bloomington, Eric (Vanessa) Marvin of Evansville, Matt Marvin of LaPorte, Paul Dreibelbis of North Vernon, Mark Dreibelbis of Cincinnati, and Julia (Derrick) Robertson of Butlerville, and her 13 great-grandchildren, Gracin, Avery, Tenley, Dayne, Jack, Alexa, Charlie, Brooks, Caleb, Rose, Nicholas, Andy, and Levi.
Due to the recent Covid outbreak, the family will be having a private family viewing at Myers-Reed Chapel with a graveside service at Garland Brook Cemetery. Dr. Bill Bailey, Pastor of Parkside Baptist Church will
be officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkside Baptist Church or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
