NORTH VERNON
Nancy Jane Sharp, 85, of North Vernon, passed away at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Born June 21, 1935, in her parents’ home in North Vernon, she was the daughter of Russell and Edna Mae (McFadden) Bartlett. She married Byford Glen Sharp on June 20, 1953 at the Vernon Baptist Church in Vernon; he preceded her in death on June 26, 2010.
Nancy was a stay-at-home mom. She was a member of Wilson Corner Chapel Church in Elizabethtown and enjoyed reading, traveling, birdwatching, and spending time with her family and grandkids.
Nancy is survived by her sons, David (Bernadine) Sharp, Ronnie Sharp, and Donnie Sharp, all of North Vernon, and Dennis (DeeAnn) Sharp of Butlerville; her daughter, Debbie Gootee of North Vernon; grandchildren, Wendy (Steve) Stock of St. Ann, Missouri, Sarah (Shawn) Platt of Millhousen, Mandy Manning of Crothersville, and Allen Sharp of Columbus, and ten great-grandchildren.
Nancy was preceded by her parents; her husband; sons, Michael and Steve Sharp; granddaughter, Beth Huntington; brothers, Harold James and Jack Lee Bartlett; and sisters, Emma Marie Kriete and Georgianna Parlo.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Doug Sharp officiating. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the funeral home and one hour prior to service on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines, only 25 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time. Masks are mandatory. We thank our families for their continued cooperation during these difficult times as we strive to help keep our community safe.
