COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Audrey J. Pruitt, 85, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Brown County Health and Living Community in Nashville, Indiana.
Audrey was born July 27, 1935, in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of the late Jacob M. and Nellie M. Anderson Crouch. On March 13, 1952, Audrey married Bernard E. “Gene” Pruitt; he preceded her in death May 9, 2004.
Audrey was a devoted wife, mother, caregiver and homemaker. She cherished the time she spent with her children, grandkids and great-grandkids. Audrey thoroughly enjoyed bird watching. She will be remembered for her selfless nature with a positive outlook, always putting others’ needs in front of her own.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Gary D. (Julie) Pruitt of Columbus and Sandra L. (Ron) Gutzwiller of Kokomo, Indiana; grandchildren, Amanda (Jeremy) Nye of Columbus, Carly (Kayla) Pruitt of Charleston, South Carolina, Jacob Gutzwiller of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Jenna Pruitt of Greenville, South Carolina; son-in-law, Rocky Ford of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Audrey, John Henry, Noah, Emma and Ella Mae Nye and Mason Pruitt.
Mrs. Pruitt was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Nellie Crouch; husband, Gene; daughters, Kathy D. Ford and Debra J. Pruitt; brothers, Jacob and Floyd Crouch; half-brother, Frank Baldwin; and half-sisters, Freda Noel, Dorothy Eudy, Christine Bloom, Elsie Hayes, Helen Whittington and Beryl Rooney.
A private, family graveside service will be held in the Garden of Meditation at Garland Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association and Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Arrangements were entrusted to Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home.
