He is survived by daughters Barbara (John) Costello, Susan Quigley, and John (Dodie) Quigley with grandchildren Kaylin and Michael Quigley, and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan Caprio Quigley, his parents and siblings Anne, Bud, Marge, Ronnie, Joe, George and Frank.

Jess attended HS in Philadelphia joining the US Air Force (Korea War) after graduating. Assigned to upstate NY, it was there he met his future wife Joan, the love of his life. Daughters soon followed and a bit later, a son. After serving his country, Jess joined Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY and was later promoted into Technical Sales (1967), resulting in the family moving to Glen Ellyn, IL. Jess enjoyed being active in the local American Legion and later attended COD, earning an Associate Degree. After retiring from Kodak (1988), Jess and Joan moved to a lake house in Durand, IL. Both enjoyed visiting the area’s various breakfast places and sharing their reviews in the local newspaper and loved being out on Lake Summerset in their pontoon boat, fishing and socializing.

In 1998, Jess and Joan moved to Seymour, IN to be closer to their grandchildren. Jess stayed active in the local political scene, taught ESL, and was a columnist for the local paper, activities that brought out his exuberant personality. After Joan’s death (2011), Jess moved to Columbus where he flourished using his penchant for being among people by getting active in the Mill Race Center and visiting his favorite coffee house, Gramz. Jess dabbled in painting, organizing events and completing a fictional book until COVID ended his life. In keeping with Jess’s wishes, any memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Columbus Mill Race Center. Per Jess’s wishes, cremation is planned. A celebration of life will occur at a later date at Mill Race Center.
