NEW WHITELAND
Christopher D. “Chris” Giles 58 of New Whiteland, Indiana passed away 28 February 2021 while admitted to Community South Hospital, after emergency knee surgery which led to a blood clot that moved to his lungs. Chris was born 14 August 1962 the son of Jerry D. and Joyce K (Melton) Giles. He was proceeded in death by younger brother Michael (Mike) Giles.
Chris grew up in Edinburgh and graduated in 1980. He joined the Indiana Army National Guard 1982 and became a full-time employee in 1986 until Medically Retiring in 2005. Chris then became a Civilian contractor from 2005 until 2014.
Chris married Melissa A (Hardin) Giles 22 June 1984, Chris was the father to Jarred C. Giles and Whitney N. Giles (both from New Whiteland), stepfather to Anthony R, (Tony) Coffman (Miami, FL), and grandfather to Kiyanna M. the sunlight to his soul. Chris was extremely proud of both Jarred and Whitney for becoming amazing adults.
Chris shared his love of family with a large extended family from both his mother and father’s side and had countless friends.
Chris loved his family, football, music, and movies. Chris requested that no service be held and with that the family are keeping his wishes. There will be a Celebration of Life for Chris held on 14 August 2021 with a time and location to be determined.
