03172021cr obit Anthony, MarjorieMarjorie L. Anthony, 95, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away Saturday March 13, 2021 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Marjorie was born April 22, 1925 in Lincoln, Nebraska to the late Otto and Wilhelmine (Poepke) Woltemade. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska and the University of Nebraska School of Nursing in 1946. Marjorie was a Cadet Nurse in Nebraska during World War 2 and was ready to serve when the war ended. She was a registered nurse at Bartholomew County Hospital for 35 years specializing in labor and delivery and the nursery. She also taught childbirth classes to expectant parents. She married Duane Anthony September 9, 1947, and he preceded her in death February 15, 2000.

Marjorie was a member of the 25th Street Church of Christ in Columbus. Marjorie loved God, her family and friends with all her heart. She was a member of the Mill Race Center and the Senior Scribes. She was a published author who wrote family history, short stories, poems and “little ditties”. She was a member of Delta Theta Tau philanthropic sorority. Marjorie was an active person, who enjoyed reading, crafts, playing games, reading and studying the Bible, camping, travel and spending time with family and friends. Especially during the pandemic, Marjorie enjoyed texting, Face Time, Pinterest and sharing little Bitmoji’s with family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest next to her husband Duane in Garland Brook Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the 25th Street Church of Christ in Columbus or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Gail A. (companion, Ron Williams) Peetz of Columbus and Lisa J. (Dave) Hobbs of Lafayette; sister-in-law, Carol Mills; brother-in-law, George Anthony; grandchildren, Lindsey (Dustin) Murray, David (Bailey) Hobbs and Betsy (Jared) Feltner; great grandchildren, Lainey and Cooper Hobbs and her beloved cat Fuzz Bucket. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son, Jeffrey Duane Anthony and a sister Marilyn J. Thomas.
