Roberta C. “Bobbie” Stier, 84, of Columbus, passed away Monday March 15, 2021 at Hickory Creek of Columbus. She was born April 1, 1936 in Indianapolis to the late William P. and Bernice A. (Quellhorst) Cleary. She married William H. Stier on July 9, 1966 and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1982.

Bobbie was a long time member of St. Columba Catholic Church and was a teacher at St. Columba and St. Bartholomew Schools. She received a Bachelor’s degree from St. Mary of the Woods College and her Master’s degree from Indiana University. Bobbie enjoyed playing cards, reading, playing cards, bird watching and playing cards. She loved her family and made every opportunity to be with them.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Episcopal Church 2651 California Street with Rev. Sister Diane Stier officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church Friday. Following the service, she will be laid to rest next to her husband in St Louis Catholic Cemetery in Batesville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmaus Monastery Vestaburg, Michigan through the funeral home.

Bobbie is survived by her daughters, Rev. Sister Diane L. Stier of Vestaburg, Michigan and Karin M. (Tracy) Knotts of Columbus; her sons, William M. Stier of Seattle, Washington and James E. (Susan) Stier of Columbus; her sisters, Margaret Anne Glick of South Carolina, Barbara Jean (John) Schmutte of King’s County, Virginia, Christine Susan Genowa and Victoria Joan Cleary, both of Indianapolis. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Kathleen A. (Tim) Whipker, Colleen Saylor, Michael (Christal) Douglas, Amy (Michael) Nietes, Emily Stier, William Knotts, Erica Stier and Alison Stier; great grandchildren, Max Whipker, Ciara Saylor, Ellen Whipker, Marcella Whipker, Isla Ray Douglas and Lola Douglas. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a son, Donald J. Stier; a daughter, Sister Marcella Stier, OSF and sisters, Marilyn Rose Wilson and Kathleen Rike Huffman.

Due to the mandate limiting gatherings, visitors are required to wear face masks and maintain social distancing. We encourage you to share your support with the family, being cognizant that others wish to do the same. You may be asked to wait outside the building as we comply with this mandate.
