SHELBY COUNTY — A Mississippi truck diver was killed Tuesday after he was hit by another motorist near County Road 425W and Smithland Road.
Shelby County Sheriff deputies said the accident occurred at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday where a vehicle driven by Noah Horton, 19, no address provided, struck David W. Young, 68, Tupelo, Mississippi.
Young, a semi driver, was with his vehicle at the intersection with its headlights and flashers on, and as Horton drove toward the semi, ran across the road into the path of his vehicle, deputies said.
Young was pronounced dead at the scene. Horton was not injured.
