James Clay ‘Jimmy’ Adkins

SHELBYVILLE

James Clay “Jimmy” Adkins, 54 of Shelbyville, Indiana passed away November 7, 2021 at his residence. He was born July 25, 1967 in Shelbyville. He was the son of James E. Adkins and Dora (Swallows) Perry.

He is survived by his mother, Dora of Hickory, North Carolina, brothers, Dave Wayne Adkins of Edinburgh, Indiana and Roger Dale (Alisha) Sinclair of Edinburgh, Indiana, sister, Jennifer Marie Gross of Taylorsville, North Carolina, aunts, Dorothy Barnett of North Vernon, Indiana, Lucille Gaddis of Shelbyville, Indiana, and Dottie Adkins of Shelbyville, Indiana, and friend Jon Akin, and his dogs, Boogie, Mercury, and Butter.

He was preceded in death by his father, step-father, Robert Perry, grandparents, Henry and Idella Adkins and Sam and Montie Swallows, brother-in-law, Herman Lee Gross, and cousin, Shane Clarkson.

Jimmy was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed time with his dogs which he considered his children, antiquing, landscaping, boating, and camping.

A funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Randy Denton at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh, Indiana. Calling will be from 11:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
