Donna Dee Wallace

INDIANAPOLIS, FORMERLY OF COLUMBUS

Donna Dee Wallace, 90, of Indianapolis and formerly of Columbus went home to Jesus on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at 4:30 a.m. at Hoosier Village Health Center in Indianapolis.

Mrs. Wallace was born on October 4, 1931, in Kearney, Nebraska the daughter of Clark and Eva Grace Burton Kayton. Donna’s mother passed when she was very young and she was then raised by her father and step-mother, Iola Belle Kayton. On December 28, 1950, she married Donald G. Wallace in Omaha, Nebraska while she was attending nursing school. She then went on to follow her husband to Purdue University while he finished his engineering degree and worked there at the Sagamore Room.

Her greatest joy was being a fulltime wife and mother of her four children. She attended St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and also enjoyed being a PTA President, Girl Scout leader, Red Cross hospital volunteer and chairman, gardener and seamstress. Mrs. Wallace and her family enjoyed spending time together boating on the weekends on Lake Michigan and traveling.

Survivors include her children, Barbara (Rick) Hedge of Speedway, Pete (Mary) Wallace of Carmel, Lynn (Jeff) Brown of Columbus, and Shirl (Dave) Hines of Carmel; grandchildren, Scott Hines, Trevor Hines, Lee Hines, Christi Wohlford, Ian Brown, Emily Fisher, Andrew Wallace, James Wallace; great grandchildren, Jack Wohlford, Luke Wohlford, Megan Wohlford, Dylen Hines, Gene Hines, Louie Hines; and her sister, Gwen Beam of Murrieta, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Iola Belle Kayton; and her husband, Donald G. Wallace in 1999.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 18th at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Teike officiating.

Family and friends may call for visitation from 10:00 a.m. till time of service Thursday at the church.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
