MONTEZUMA

Mikel Bert Lewman, 78, passed away peacefully at his home on January 8, 2022 surrounded by family. Born October 24, 1944 in Clinton, IN, Mike was the son of Parke and Madonna (Cook) Lewman of Montezuma, IN now both deceased.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Lary Lewman of Clarksville, MD.

He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn Kaye (Sargent) Lewman along with two daughters: Erin Lewman of Columbus, IN and her two children Natalie and Ethan Glaid and daughter, Sarah Kleeman of Lake Zurich, IL along with her husband Mike and their two children, Megan and Owen.

He graduated from Montezuma HS in 1962, from Indiana State University in with a BS and IU Bloomington with a masters, both in earth science. He taught school for 16 years in the Franklin and Columbus Indiana school systems, later moving to Cummins where he worked 22 years as a video producer.

Mike was passionate about his family history. He was a supporter of the Parke County Historical Museum in Rockville and actively involved with the Wabash Valley Genealogy Society. He formed the Hixon Cemetery Association focusing on its preservation.

Mike loved his family and his work. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville Indiana with Pastor Leon Myers officiating.

Memorial visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Gooch Funeral Home.
