COLUMBUS
Morris W. “Buck” Smith, 76, of Columbus, passed from this life at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2022, at his home.
Buck was born May 21, 1945, in Columbus, the son of Orville M. “Pug” and Anis Ruth Enochs Smith.
He married Pamela G. Bunch March 23, 1974, she preceded him in death October 16, 2015.
He later married Kellie Dunker January 26, 2019.
Buck retired from Allison Transmission after more than 30 years of service.
An avid outdoorsman, jack all of trades and a horse enthusiast, he enjoyed riding horses, breeding horses and was a former barrel racer.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran a member of Ogilville United Methodist Church a former Tool &Die maker, 4-H leader and auctioneer.
Survivors include his wife, Kellie; son, Shayne “Joe” (Lisa) Smith of Columbus; grandchildren, Sidney DesJardin-Smith and Peyton Siefker; brother, Glenn (Diane) Smith of Seymour; stepsons, Evan Horrall and Austin Horrall; dear family friend, Jim Campbell and dogs, Coda, Indy and Skeeter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry Wayne Smith; daughter, Shannon Renee Siefker; brother, William Smith and a sister, Judith Kirby.
In keeping with Buck’s wishes, cremation will take place.
It is with great regret, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family will have a celebration of life service at the convenience of the family.
The family request that memorial contributions be made to the National Pancreas Foundation.
