Flood warnings extended for East Fork White River and Driftwood River

Latest on road closings as of 1:30 p.m. Wednesday

Road closed:

  • 800S between State Road 11 and U.S. 31
  • Tellman Road between Indianapolis Road and 200W

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The National Weather service has extended flood warnings for the East Fork White River in Columbus and the Driftwood River in Edinburgh until Thursday morning.

Minor flooding is occurring.

For the East Fork White River, the stage was 9.7 feet at 10 a.m. Wednesday. the maximum river stage for the river in the last 24 hours was 9.9 feet. The river is expected to fall below flood stage Wednesday night and continue falling to 1.7 feet Monday morning.
The flood stage for the East Fork White River is 9.0 feet.

Minor flooding is also occurring with the Driftwood River near Edinburgh, predicted to continue through early Friday morning.

At 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Driftwood was at 12.9 feet, with the maximum river stage for the past 24 hours at 13.5 feet.
The Driftwood is expected to fall below flood stage early Thursday afternoon and continue falling to 4.7 feet by Monday morning.
The Driftwood’s flood stage is 11.0 feet.

Bartholomew County Emergency Management has listed the latest high water and road closing locations for the county.

High Water:

County Road 900N between 200E and 300E

South Gladstone Avenue

Road closed:

County Road 800S between State Road 11 and U.S. 31

Tellman Road between Indianapolis Road and County Road 200W
