HOPE — A Hope teenager was arrested on multiple charges after he was observed damaging a vehicle with a shovel and a machete in what police later described as a domestic dispute.

Hope police were sent to 709 Vine Drive Thursday about a man, later identified as Isaac Stenneski, 18, who lives at the address, damaging a vehicle with the shovel and machete. Officers attempted to get Stenneski to drop the weapons but he refused, said Town Marshal Matt Tallent.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies and Columbus police were called to assist. A standoff with Stenneski ensued and negotiators attempted to talk with him for more than two hours, police said.
Tallent said the decision was made to use less than lethal bean bag rounds to
get Stenneski to drop his weapons and he was taken into custody without further incident.

During the investigation, it was found that the vehicle that was damaged belong to Stenneski’s girlfriend, and the incident was due to a domestic dispute.
Stenneski refused medical treatment on the scene. He was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for jail clearance and then transported to the Bartholomew County Jail.

Stenneski was being held on preliminary charges of destruction of property, intimidation with a deadly weapon and resisting law enforcement, police said.
