NEW ALBANY — Jennings County kicked off the outdoor track and field season Saturday when it competed in the Hoosier South Relays at New Albany. Because of spring break, the Panthers did not take full boys or girls teams.
Taylor Leak and Rachel Manning tied for first in the girls pole vault. Rilee Hicks, Avery Willhite, Sasha Hicks and Elizabeth Evans placed third in the 4×800-meter relay.
Evan Sochacki finished third in the boys pole vault, and Eli Wahlman took third in the boys 1,600 and teamed with Aidan Ernstes, Jonathan Jones and Lain Ernstes to place third in the 4×800 relay. Jake Sturgeon was fourth in the shot put, Bryce Barnes finished fifth in the long jump, Cole Marksberry took fifth in the 110 hurdles and Peyton Hayden was fifth in the discus and sixth in the shot.
