Koby Johnson // Hauser senior baseball player

Johnson threw a no-hitter and struck out 19 to lead the Jets to a 1-0 win against Waldron. He also had a double in a 5-4 win against Greensburg earlier in the week.

His performance last week: “I kind of just played baseball. I know I had a very good team behind me that would back me up whenever I needed them. I’m just glad to have good teammates.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I just chew some sunflower seeds and listen to some heavy-metal music.”

Favorite drink: “Cherry Coke”

Favorite food: “Pizza.”

Favorite class: “Advance PE/Weightlifting”

Favorite sports team: “Cincinnati Reds”

Favorite athlete: “Michael Jordan”

Role model: “My dad (Doug Johnson)”

Best advice: “Don’t take anything for granted. Hard work will pay off. You just have to keep pushing through it. Nothing is given to you.”

Athletics goal: “To see where baseball takes me. Go to college and play baseball (at Indiana Tech) and see what happens after that.”

If you could travel anywhere: “South America, just to see the culture there and explore. I just like to see new things and be somewhere I haven’t really been before.”

Hannah Taylor

Taylor had a home run in Friday’s 8-1 win over Triton Central, went 2 for 3 with a homer and four RBIs in Saturday’s 14-2 win at Edinburgh and had a homer and four RBIs in Saturday’s 10-0 win over Indianapolis Lutheran.

Her performance last week: “I think I started off slow at the beginning of Friday’s game, but I finally found my groove and got into it.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I usually do my drills at home from my hitting coach, and then I usually listen to music on the way to the game.”

Favorite drink: “Mr. Pibb”

Favorite food: “Taco Bell”

Favorite class: “English”

Favorite sports team: “Eastern Illinois (where she has committed to play softball)”

Favorite athlete: “(Pro softball player) Odicci Alexander”

Role model: “My sister (former Hauser and future IUPUC player Katie Taylor).”

Best advice: “Just have fun with whatever you’re doing, and try not to be so hard on yourself. Just be in the moment and have fun with it.”

Athletics goal: “As a team, I want to make it to state this year.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Hawaii, because I love warm weather.”
