North blanks Jennings

NORTH VERNON — Maddi Rutan threw a one-hitter with 16 strikeouts Tuesday to lead Class 4A No. 6 Columbus North to a 9-0 win at Jennings County.

Rachel Cowan went 3 for 4 with two home runs and three RBIs for the Bull Dogs (17-3). Josie Lemmons went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, Kirsten Danford went 2 for 4 with a double and Bailey King went 2 for 4.

Grace George had the lone hit for the Panthers (9-17).

East downs Braves

Columbus East scored four times in each of the first two innings and went on to post a 14-7 win against Indian Creek.

Joycee Redman went 2 for 2, Jessica Johnston went 2 for 3 and Addy Ross went 2 for 4 with a double for the Olympians (7-16-1). Kenzie Foster and Savanna Sullivan each had a home run and three RBIs.

Chargers top Cougars

GREENSBURG — North Decatur took advantage of nine South Decatur errors to post a 12-2, five-inning Mid-Hoosier Conference win.

Molly Eden had a double for the Cougars (5-15, 3-7).

FISHERS — Dyllan Redmon threw a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead Columbus North to a 5-0 win at Hamilton Southeastern.

Tyler Blythe had two RBIs for the Bull Dogs (18-4-1).

East blanks Trojans

Will Boyer threw a two-hitter to lead Columbus East to a 5-0 win against East Central.

Five different Olympians (10-13-1) collected one hit. Ty Uphaus had two RBIs.

Panthers rout Stars

NORTH VERNON — Jacob Vogel threw a six-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and went 2 for 4 at the plate to lead Jennings County to an 11-1 win against Bedford North Lawrence.

Cole Sigler went 2 for 4 with two RBIs for the Panthers (17-9). Carson McNulty had three RBIs.

Twisters top Lancers

OLDENBURG — Oldenburg Academy scored three times in the first inning and went on to hand Edinburgh a 12-2, five-inning defeat.

Riley Palmeter went 2 for 3 with a double, and Jarrett Turner went 2 for 3 for the Lancers (5-13).

Chargers stop Cougars

GREENSBURG — South Decatur led 2-0 after two innings, but North Decatur rallied for an 8-2 MHC win.

Avery Seegers went 2 for 3, and Zaydun Sharp went 2 for 4 for the Cougars (16-6, 8-4).

Bull Dogs edge Owls

SEYMOUR — Willy Davis won medalist honors with a 39 to lead No. 19 Columbus North to a 171-172 win against Seymour at Shadowood.

Aditya Banerjee and Damon Gregory each shot 43 for the Bull Dogs. Jack Schiavello added a 46, and John Ferguson had a 50.

East falls to New Albany

NEW ALBANY — Columbus East fell to New Albany 167-173 at Valley View.

Carter Greene and Ben Luedeke each shot 40 to lead the Olympians. Spencer Erfmeier added a 46, J.T. Kuhlman and Jared Brooks each shot 47 and Conrad Eggers had a 48.

Panthers outshoot Eagles

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County came out in the winning end of a 181-227 win against Jac-Cen-Del at St. Anne’s.

Jack George led the Panthers with a 43. Davey Shaw carded a 44, Tanner Stearns and Eli Stearns each shot 47, Jake Grader added a 48 and Rowan Cook had a 61.

Artesians slip past Lancers

MARTINSVILLE — Max Blandford won medalist honors with a 37, but Edinburgh fell to Martinsville 191-196 at Foxcliff.

Keegan Smith and Mason Calhoun each shot 52 for the Lancers. Trevor Moon carded a 55, Devyn Milburn added a 57, Cash Cunningham shot 59, Wyatt Burton had a 61 and Devin Hamilton finished with a 67.

GIRLS TENNIS

Tigers topple Jets

FAIRLAND — Hauser wrapped up the regular season with a 4-1 loss at Triton Central.

Charlie Clark and Gabby Johns beat Kelsey Mcquire and Alyssa Wheatley 6-4, 7-6 (4) at No. 1 singles for the Jets (6-9).

Hauser’s Bella Kilps fell to to Julia Sanders 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Addyson Barriger lost to Emma Hutchinson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Lydia Jordan fell to to Lelia Chougole 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Mattie Foster and Piper Rowell lost to Olivia Martin and Sarah Williams 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

BOYS LACROSSE

Columbus downs Scecina

Christian Ortega netted six goals and one assist Monday to lead Columbus to a 9-6 win against Indianapolis Scecina.

Lucas Fedewa recorded two goals and one assist, and Owen Barkes notched one goal and one assist. Evan Babb had two assists, and Nathan Wettschurak, Curran O’Connor, Brayson Bennett and Tony Sanchez all added one assist.

Bennett posted eight saves.
