HOPE — Hauser volleyball controlled its match against a new Class 2A sectional foe in South Ripley.

The Jets had their slight bumps along the way, but they cruised to a 25-10, 25-23, 25-16 victory Monday night.

“We had changed things up. We tried some different things. We’re trying to work it out. I was happy with it,” Hauser coach Jeff Case said. “I thought this was a learning experience for us. We’re getting better. I’m pleased with the effort tonight. They were getting after it. We could clean some things up and execute a little better. It’s early in the season. We’re going to continue to improve and improve. There’s lots of options with this group.”

The Jets (6-1) led the first set 8-3 until scoring a dozen straight points to lead 20-3. The Raiders finally got into the action, but the set eventually belonged to Hauser to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

South Ripley at one point had a 19-16 lead in the second set, but the Jets eventually tied it at 21-21 and scored four of the next six points to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Hauser eventually ended the match by going on 6-1 run in the third set to lead 15-9 and never look back.

It’s been a great start to the season so far for Hauser, which was coming off a four-match sweep in winning Saturday’s Henryville Round-Robin.

“I’m really with pleased with it,” Case said. “They are really buying in with what we’re trying to do and trying to accomplish. They’re a lot of fun. They’re focused, and they’re being a team. I’m really pleased with what they’re doing.”

A slight change in the schedule for the Jets coming up has their upcoming match against Indianapolis Lutheran on Thursday that was scheduled for a home contest being switched to an away game because of transportation issues.
