Jets topple Twisters

HOPE — Hauser won three matches in straight sets Wednesday in claiming a 4-1 win against Oldenburg Academy.

Jackson Burcham beat Will Hollingsworth 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles for the Jets (5-11). Hunter Pappano and Kameron Blair topped Jack Freeland and Zach Phillips 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Hagan Wiedersatz and Jentzen Bechtel defeated Carson Phillips and Carson Ruter 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. JJ Dickey won the first set against Jonah Short 7-6 (6) before the match was called because of darkness.

Hauser’s Caleb Wallace fell to Clay Eckstein 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.

New Albany tops East

NEW ALBANY — Columbus East fell to New Albany 5-0 in the consolation round of the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament.

Erik Takahashi fell to John Fulmer 6-1, 6-2 at No.1 singles, Brady Redelman lost to Gavin Hamilton 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Jacob Dettmer fell to Cooper Anderson 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Olympians (6-14).

East’s Ethan Bumbalough and Matthew Degner lost to Ben Siegel and Sam Siegel 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Tyler Ernst and Henry Ulrich fell to Caleb Bradshaw and Asher Chaudhary 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

The HHC semifinal match between Jennings County and Seymour was postponed until today because of rain and lightning.

Lancers fall to Cubs

MADISON — Edinburgh played without No. 1 singles player Max Blandford and fell 4-1 at Madison.

Austin Brockman def Kaid Mink 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles for the Lancers (6-10).

Edinburgh’s Milas Burkman fell to Mitchell Cammack 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Bailey Totten lost to Abe Reetz 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Braylon Lenkner and Teddy Crawhorn fell to Bodie Harsin and Bryce Miller 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Jayson Music and Anduan Chavez lost to Tucker Whitaker and Colton O’Neal 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
