IUPUC students to host Doggone 5K Fun Run

A group of IUPUC students will host a 5K fun run/walk event for dogs and their humans next Saturday to benefit a local animal care organization.

Alexis Snider, Katie Taylor, Lexi York and Nolan Lee will host the Doggone 5K Fun Run (or Walk) to benefit Friends of Columbus Animal Care Services. The event will be Dec. 3 at the Columbus Learning Center, 4555 Central Ave., beginning at 9 a.m. with onsite registration at 8 a.m.

Registration is $30 per person and participants may preregister at getmeregistered.com/DoggoneFunRun, or in person at Columbus Animal Care Services, 2730 Arnold St. Those preregistering online are guaranteed a long-sleeve event shirt. Donations of animal supplies such as food, blankets, toys and cleaning supplies also will be collected for Columbus Animal Care Services.

For those who don’t have a dog but would like to walk with one, that option will be available during online registration. A limited number of dogs will be available wearing “adopt me” vests, so participants are encouraged to register early. Adoption applications also will be available at the event.

For the safety of all participants, organizers ask for dogs to be well behaved and up to date on shots. No retractable leashes may be used.
