Jenna Guse // Columbus East junior basketball player

Guse scored a career-high 18 points and added six rebounds and three assists in the Olympians’ 71-53 loss at Class 4A No. 2 Zionsville.

Her performance last week: “I knew that they were going to lock down on Saige (Stahl), so I knew that someone else had to step up.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I have the same playlist that I listen to for away games.”

Favorite drink: “Blue Powerade”

Favorite food: “Pasta”

Favorite class: “Environmental Science”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University women’s basketball”

Favorite athlete: “Ali Patberg”

Role model: “My parents (Dr. Cary and Kristi Guse).”

Best advice: “It’s more selfish not to take the shot than it is to pass up a good one.’”

Athletics goal: “This AAU season, I’m looking to get recruited.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Texas, because I really like the country and the weather.”

Keegan Manowitz // Jennings County senior basketball player

Keegan Manowitz

Manowitz had 13 points and nine assists in a 77-54 win over North Harrison and 12 points, eight assists and four steals in a 72-47 win against Batesville in the Batesville Tournament.

His performance last week: “I think we did well as a team. Getting to 10-0 is always good. We’re playing well as a team right now.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I watch film during the week, and then before the game, just warm up with the team and get ready to play.”

Favorite drink: “Chocolate milk”

Favorite food: “Steak”

Favorite class: “Weights”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University basketball”

Favorite athlete: “Steph Curry”

Role model: “My parents (Pete and Carrie Manowitz)”

Best advice: “Always work hard.”

Athletics goal: “I want to play a sport in college and win sectional this year in basketball and baseball.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Hawaii. It looks beautiful in all the pictures I see, and I think it would be fun.”
