Indiana Historical Society to have MLK Day celebration

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) will celebrate The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s service to communities and his birthday on Monday offering free admission and special programs.

The historical society will have the special event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, 450 W. Ohio St. in Indianapolis.

Visitors to the Indiana History Center can listen to storytelling, learn more about gospel and protest music and enjoy a concert from Keisha Ballinger and the University United Methodist Church Praise Team from 2 to 4 p.m.

Guests are invited to donate to Charity Cares Clothing Closet by bringing brand-new socks or underwear of all kids sizes or a cash donation.

IHS’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration is presented by The Charlitta and Robin Winston Family Fund for African American History.
