East takes sixth in girls golf opener

SEYMOUR — Columbus East opened its girls golf season with a sixth-place finish in Wednesday’s Seymour Invitational.

The Olympians carded a 423 team total. Center Grove’s A and B teams took the top two spots at 290 and 309, and New Albany was third with a 376.

Carter Gant tied for fifth individually with a 76 to lead East. Dyana Foster added a 97, Ali Trueblood shot 121 and Allison Sharpe had a 129.

Jennings County finished eighth with a 482. Lauren Galvan led the Panthers with a 105, while Shelby Davis added a 121, Dakota Carr had a 127 and Aslynn Hopkins and Amilia Gresham each shot 129.
