Bartholomew County Commissioners rented a temporary wheelchair ramp at a cost of almost $10,000 for about three months while the county courthouse was renovated to improve accessibility for disabled residents.

Along with the rest of the country, Steven Spielberg’s war film, “Saving Private Ryan,” topped Columbus box offices for several weeks.

Members of Columbus Jaycees and Jayshees were Santa’s helpers, setting up “roadblocks” at intersections around Columbus to collect “Christmas in August” donations from motorists to help children in need of back-to-school clothing.
